BEDA

Happy April!

Hello and welcome to Blog Every Day in April, an idea I oh so lovingly copied from Vlogbrother Hank Green who is video blogging every day of April. See his first video here: VEDA #1 - April Fools  and Harlem Shakes.

Historically, my blogging has always increased during the month of April. In April 2010 (when this blog was born), I posted 16 blog entries; in April 2011, I beat that number with an astounding 17 blog entries; and in April 2012, I was in London and blogging rather often with a total of 24 blog posts during my first full month in that darling city. This year, I am determined to try post every day during the month of April, in an attempt to finally blog an entire month. We shall see how this endeavor proceeds.

I thought I'd begin BEDA with a few of my favorite things from the last couple of weeks:

Brontë Baby Books!
Learn to count with Jane Eyre and learn about
the weather in Wuthering Heights. I couldn't resist.

Portland road trip with friends

The four of us in downtown Portland.

Charley, Ashley, and I walking through the Japanese Gardens

Charley and I at Pittock Mansion

Feminist flat mates at the feminist bookstore made popular by Portlandia

Photobooth fun at the Ace Hotel

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

This amazing piece of teen lit caught my heart and is definitely worthy of the many awards it won at this year's ALA's children's lit awards. After hearing about this book at a Multicultural Lit Panel at the 2013 iYouth conference, I eagerly awaited the extra reading hours of spring break to gobble it right up. I highly recommend this beautiful and touching book to both teens and adults. Read NPR's article about the novel here: "Discovering Sexuality Through Teen Lit"

My favorite line: "I bet you could sometimes find all of the mysteries of the universe in someone's hand."

Sunny springtime and my first "no-tights" day
