One year

"To become fully awake it suffices to write out any word whatsoever, for writing is in itself as supernatural and godly, not a humant, act." ~ Dictionary of the Khazars, Pavic

I still have almost every word that I have ever written since first grade in my possession. The stories and papers and scraps and notebooks and diaries are sitting in a box, chronologically ordered, in my bedroom. I love going through my past compositions for several reasons:
  1. Always good for a laugh (Fifth grade diary...)
  2. "I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on a train" ~ The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde... though slightly narcissistic, reading through your past is quite interesting and entertaining.
  3. And the most important reason: To see how I've grown. I love to watch my writing skills change and improve. I also like to see how I change as an individual. How I was, how I am now, how God's changed and used me. Sometimes it's even like putting the missing puzzle pieces in. Seeing how a life comes together.
I am becoming more enthusiastic about change. I used to loathe any kind of change, both good or bad. But now I see that being fluid and adaptable is a wonderful thing. Not bound by what was or what might be.

That was a side note.

The real point is: words are powerful. And writing is a beautiful way to document thought, stories, change, and what have you. I use this blog to share those writing experiences with people I know. If I could add this internet journal to my box of writing, I would.

So... happy one year anniversary!

I must say, my first blog entry (Today is tomorrow... or yesterday) is quite silly. But I did explain why I gave this blog such a ridiculous name... "my life is like one amazing metacognitive party." Still is, last time I checked.

Metacognition, defined by the Oxford English Dictionary:
Awareness and understanding of one's own thought processes, esp. regarded as having a role in directing those processes.

Or just thinking about thinking. To keep it simple.

To celebrate, I am going to go enjoy some words. And then think about them. And then think about my thinking about them.
