I adore the movie 500 Days of Summer. Honestly, it's probably my favorite romantic movie (that isn't Jane Austen, or anything based on 19th century literature). I love the gender reversals: Tom is the romantic one searching for his soulmate and Summer doesn't believe in love. I love that they don't get together in the end. I love that Summer meets someone in a deli while she's reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I love that Summer and Tom both balance each other's beliefs. Tom learns that his soulmate isn't necessarily who he thinks it is. And Summer learns that love exists.
And I love this line: "...she'd only loved two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing."
I cut my hair today.
