How to: Kale Chips

My new food addiction is kale chips--a bit of a crunch, a little salty, and very healthy! I can't stop making these delicious snacks.

What you need:

  • 1 bunch of kale
  • Olive oil
  • Sea salt

  1. Cut or tear your kale into chip size pieces and separate from the stalks. Thoroughly wash and dry (especially dry... if you don't, you'll have steamed kale!).
  2. Drizzle with olive oil (I just guess usually--about a tablespoon or so) and mix so that the kale is lightly coated in oil.
  3. Put the kale on a baking tray in a single layer with little overlap.
  4. Sprinkle with sea salt.
  5. Bake for 12-14 minutes at 350 degrees, stirring once.
You can add any spices or flavors to this recipe. I made some delicious salt and vinegar chips the other day; I think cinnamon and sugar kale chips will be next. There are other recipes and flavor combinations all over the food blogosphere so check it out, and try making your favorite chip with kale next time!
