On summer and self-harm

One of my favorite artists on Tumblr (Ruby) posted this drawing recently. I found it poignant and relatable.

I have been adoring this beautiful weather, getting my freckles on, and wearing dresses with no tights. No matter the length.
                                                                          Jacket

  We wear our jackets
  as an alibi.
  Innocent until the sun
  provides ample evidence
to make us the guilty party,
  we scar more than ourselves.
  A jacket cannot conceal
  what is already known. Redeem
  my crime; there is an
  innocence in honesty.

  1. Love this!
What if your openness about this helps another person become an overcomer, just like you are? :)

  2. Your legs are sexy, Lois. The scars look like little quilts.

  3. "There is an innocence in honesty..." - new favorite line. Did you write this poem?
