The above image is my current text book list for fall quarter. I am bursting with joy right now. Ridiculous amounts of joy and excitement.
This is all very distracting since I am supposed to be working on my research paper right now. But this is why I am an English major: I absolutely adore literature (especially 19th century). The theory classes are interesting... writing with a critical framework is useful and challenging, but nothing compares to reading.
And now, after taking all the slightly painful, but interesting required English courses (297, 301, and 302) this year, I am rewarded with English 333. I get to spend a whole quarter reading and talking about some of my favorite books. When I signed up for the course, I knew I would probably read one Brontë. But two! Both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. And Frankenstein. A new favorite of mine, as of this school year. Such a brilliant and heart wrenching book. The Shelleys fascinate me. Actually haven't read Hard Times yet, but I love Dickens. Important to have some new material, of course.
The other course listed is my Shakespeare class, which I am also excited for. Harder to tell because I already knew what I would be reading for "Shakespeare to 1603" and I just found out about the books for "The English Novel."
I will now conclude this hastily written exclamation of nerdiness (wouldn't want to scare anyone off), and return to my research paper.
