L'été simple: The simple summer
- Frequent reading. Here is the start to my summer book list:
- Finish War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
- Finish This Book Is Overdue: How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All by Marilyn Johnson
- The Bloodless Revolution: A Cultural History of Vegetarianism From 1600 to Modern Times by Tristram Stuart
- The Double by Fyodor Dostoevsky
- Reading Like A Writer by Francine Prose
- How To Read Novels Like a Professor by Thomas Foster
- Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy
- Paper Towns by John Green
- Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
- The Road of Lost Innocence by Somaly Mam
- When Broken Glass Floats by Chanrithy Him
- The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver
- Orlando: a biography by Virginia Woolf
- Mansfield Park by Jane Austen (my last Austen novel to read)
- Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran
- The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender
- The Trial by Franz Kafka
- Looking For Alaska by John Green
- She Walks In Beauty: A Women's Journey Through Poems, selected by Caroline Kennedy
I have a hefty amount of reading to do. And the number of books is significant... I'm turning 19 in a few weeks.
- Strawberry picking and jam making
- Train for Bellingham Bay Marathon (September 25!)
- Reread (skim) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to prepare for the final movie installment
- Go to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two (This is a monumental occasion for me... this is the final Harry Potter movie. Read and was obsessed with every book. Went to every movie. Wanted to get my Hogwarts acceptance letter when I was eleven years old. I feel like I grew up with Harry, Ron and Hermione. And now it's ending.)
- Finish my current knitting project (a market bag made of hemp yarn)
- Doctor Who Season 6 marathon: I have not been able to watch a single episode of the new season yet. This needs to happen as soon as possible. Must find out who River Song is!
- Bake a really amazing cake.
- Bike on Centennial Trail
- Take care of my baby. The poor rose plant has suffered from these cold and rainy months. I hope I can revive it. Much pruning required.
- World Vision ACT:S Bucket List
- Play piano. Hopefully learn a few new pieces. I miss playing so much.
- Refresh my French online through Mango Languages
- Find a place to volunteer and serve locally
- Study the book of Acts through my core group leader's online class
- Read through the New Testament
That's my summer to do list, for now. I will probably come up with more and more ideas as we dive into this glorious season.
I am quite excited.
