Today, I took my Lit test on Crime and Punishment. That means no more Dostoevsky rants. This is sad.But I do have something to say about the end of the book (without spoiling it of course!) :
I adore the end. It is breath-taking and beautiful. Definitely the type of story that appeals to me. And I kind of feel close to Sonya. Her character is the kind I tend to relate to, although she's more self-sacrificing and compassionate and good.
The salvific feminine is pretty much my favorite new literary concept. It occurred in Faust and also in Crime and Punishment.
Our next book is Civilization and Its Discontents by Sigmund Freud.
It's a little dense and requires much concentration. But it shall be interesting since I am currently taking Psychology.
But seriously, Crime and Punishment is in my top five favorite books ever right now. I think it's possibly #2. Jane Eyre will probably be #1 for a while yet.
