Folklife 2010, bragging rights, and the most impossible task

A couple friends and I went down to Folklife this past Saturday... and it was super amazing!!! I enjoyed the music, the people, the culture, the city... everything! Definitely going back next year when I'm down at the UW.

While at Folklife, I wrote this:

Untitled II (Folklife)

Strings strum
Scrape beat
Foot follow crowd
Gentle push
Waves of a body
Colors' smells
On an upward swing
Freedom's culture
Kept through gray
People in sound

Actually, the main reason I went to Folklife was because my best friend Carly was going to be playing music on the street (and my other best friend threatened to drag me there if I didn't go with her... I love you Sami). I kind of have to brag a little bit because Carly is my best friend and I think she's pretty talented. She just finished her ep recently too. Here's the link to her myspace page:

And last but not least, my Modern Lit class is slowly wrapping up (discussion of crazy Khazars book to come). We've been given the impossible task of choosing our favorite book of the quarter.

Where do I begin?

I think I can rule out Freud. It's fascinating and brilliant but I really like stories. Khazars is a bit too crazy for me too.

I've narrowed it down to Goethe, Dostoevsky, and Woolf. Now to pick. I sense a few lists and charts in the making.
