A few updates

*takes a deep breath*

I am mostly finished with winter quarter. After three days of presentations, final papers, and late nights with bowls of ice cream, I have finally completed all of my important end-of-quarter course work. To do: a reflection paper and a Microsoft Project assignment. Almost there.

In other recent news:
  • I've been published! The iSchool publishes a quarterly newsletter and literary magazine called The Silverfish and I submitted my short story "Hospital" for publication. The Silverfish team loved the piece and published it in non-fiction. To see this quarter's issue, see The Silverfish blog.
  • Also, the iSchool 2013-14 Leadership Elections concluded last Friday and the new officers were announced this week. I was nominated for Secretary/Historian of iYouth, the iSchool student organization for MLIS interested in youth services. Looking forward to starting this new responsibility next quarter and working with my fellow officers.
  • In the last week or so, I have been obsessively listening to Kate Nash's Girl Talk, Tegan & Sara's Heartthrob, and Lana Del Rey's Paradise. Here are some of my favorite songs from each artist:

  • Melancholia is currently my favorite blog. This young woman's art is beautiful and so relevant.
  • This poster exists and may be on my wall thanks to a certain special someone:

  •  John Green has partnered with Mental Floss to launch the Mental Floss YouTube channel. It's a brilliant pairing, I must say. Here's the first video:
  • I am still very much a nerd. Except that's not recent news.

  1. GOOD EVENING, MINION. I was pleased to see your mighty victory in the officer election as well as your participation in our fine publication.

Also, I <3 your 530 Tumblr and am perusing it with avid interest! RELEARNING HOW TO TUMBL. I'm fo' sho' going to be swapping out my SPL card, but I can't decide among COMMUNITY, IMAGINATION, and FUN. :S
