i stand on the 17th parallel
my sympathies drawn north
then south
my mind to witness the stories
can i pick a side
families driven apart
are you republican or viet cong
lives sacrificed
for their country, their vietnam
soldiers, far from home
land of the free, why do we kill
atrocities, betrayals
both convictions terrible and worthy
north then south
then vietnam
and i stand on the DMZ

Note: There are many aspects of peace I could have focused on this week. But, I decided to post this poem and video because I just finished a course on the Vietnam War. The stories and lessons are fresh in my memory and I am thankful for the peace that comes with Jesus' birth.
