I do miss piano. I miss constructive piano lessons and learning pieces. And I miss recitals, even though they completely terrified me at the time.
I don't remember being so nervous about performing when I was younger. Then again, I was playing little pieces with a pedal extension because I couldn't reach the ground.
Rachmaninoff's Elegy Op.3 No. 1 was, and still is my favorite piece to learn and play. Also, the Beethoven sonata that I performed at my senior recital. I spent three years with that sonata, learning one movement each year. When you spend that long with a piece, you develop a sort of relationship with it.
I would love to learn "Metamorphosis 2" by Philip Glass. Not only am I interested in the minimalistic genre of music, but the piece was also used in the film The Hours.
I also adore Chopin's Prelude Op. 28, No. 15 (Raindrop). Would love to learn it.
Oo, and the second movement to Rachmanioff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor.
To play without passion is inexcusable.
